General Description
Ammonium purpurate is a slightly purplish-red powder that is soluble in water, and it is the ammonium salt of purpuric acid. It serves primarily as an indicator in complexometric titrations for determining water hardness, and it is also utilized as a coloring agent/pigment in the dye industry. When dissolved in sodium hydroxide solution, the solution turns deep blue. They are insoluble in ethanol and ether.
